What currency should I bring?

You will be able to exchange money at Cairo or Luxor Airports and will also find ATMs in Luxor and

Aswan if you need to withdraw cash. Debit cards can also be used to withdraw cash in local banks

throughout your trip, and there is a currency exchange bureau based in the Sonesta St George hotel

in Luxor. Expect an exchange rate of around 22 Egyptian pounds to one UK pound sterling.

You should note that you won't be able to exchange any Egyptian pounds in the UK, so it's advisable

to spend any Egyptian currency throughout the duration of your holiday. We don't recommend

taking too much Egyptian currency on your holiday, as most retailers and Egyptian hospitality outlets

prefer you to purchase using UK pounds sterling.

Most credit cards are widely accepted in Egyptian hotels, local shops and restaurants and many local

street traders and shops will also accept UK pounds, Euros or US dollars for any purchases.
